Disney’s new Beauty and the Beast movie is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

Directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon based on the 1991 animated film, Beauty and the Beast is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.
Beauty and the Beast will be released in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017.

Pass the Magic Wand. ( Princess Hot Potato)
Children of all ages Love this game! #1 Princess Birthday Party Game. Girls as well as Boys will play it and laugh. You will need Wands for all ( highly recommended) as well as a portable CD Player and Music Helper. Have the children hold hands and make a circle. Tell them to drop hands. Explain to them that when the music starts they must pass the wand to the child next to them. When the music stops ---the child with the wand is out. You never want a child to be sad at a party, so make losing---winning. Tell them to go sit over with the Music Helper and have the Helper give them a wand to keep.
Who Knows the Birthday Girl Best?
This Princess Birthday Party game is great because it really makes the birthday girl feel special, yet all her guests feel included. Before the party starts make a list of 5-7 questions to ask the birthday girl. Some of our favorite questions are; What is the birthday girl's favorite food? Favorite T.V. show? Favorite Music Group?
Write the answer down on a piece of paper. Depending on the child's age--have her or you ask the questions.
Ask the children to raise their hands. Call on each child until someone guesses the right answer. Play until all the questions are done. FYI --this is a good party stater game. Have all the children sit facing the birthday girl and you. It is fun and will help everyone feel comfortable.
Frozen Princess Bucket Toss
#1 Frozen Princess Party Game. Small wiffle balls (call them snow balls ) work best with this game. They are light enough not to knock the buckets over. Have all the children line up and take turns. You will need a yard stick or a jump rope for them to stand behind. Move it closer for smaller children and back for older ones. Keep track of their point total after each toss. Tell them to remember their own final score.
Search for Cinderella's Glass Slipper
You will need mini 6" plastic glass slippers. Before the party starts
hide the little slippers around the room. We always tell the story of Cinderella when she goes to the Ball. When the clock strikes midnight she must hurry away before the Magic runs out. She loses one of her Glass Slippers. Tell all the girls that they must search around the room to find a glass slipper of their own. Be sure to tell them to find only one.
Kiss the Frog ( and turn him into a prince)
You will remember this as Pin the Tail on the Donkey. You can find graphics like this on the web and make your own pin up game board. We found that if you take it to Staples and get it laminated, it will hold up so much better. You will also need to make small cut out lips.( get laminated too) Then all you need is two-sided tape or blue tac on the back of the lips.
Form a line a few steps away from poster. You can have the children close their eyes or buy an inexpensive Pinata blindfold. All the children will cheat...if you simply ask them to close their eyes. They can't help it. Spin them around carefully 1-3 times and send them on their way. Make sure they hold their arm with lips facing out in front. Lips On the Frogs Mouth are the Goal. *Note if there will be boys you can do small spiders to keep the spell alive! The boys put the spider anywhere on the Frog to keep him a frog!
Frozen Knock them Down Game
All You need are white styrofoam cups and some black and orange felt. Small wiffle balls work best with this game. They are light enough not to knock the cups down. Have all the children line up and take turns. You will need a yard stick or a jump rope for them to stand behind. Move it closer for smaller children and back for older ones. Keep track of their point total after each toss. Tell them to remember their own final score.
Princess Jewel Hunting
This activity can be played alone with the children simply digging to find the hidden treasure. In that case you might want to have more than one pail. Or you may use the treasure as a reward for playing a game such as the Princess Says. ( above) Whenever a child is out---instead of them being sad, you give them a reward for playing. Tell them to go dig for a prize. Problem that might occur is everyone wanting to be out too soon.....
Remember the Royal Jewels
Also known as "the memory game." There are two was to play. For younger children. Place 5 or 6 princess items on a try. Tell everyone to close their eyes or turn around. Remove one item and have them try to figure out what you took away. Tell them they must raise their hand. Most important thing---be sure to try and give everyone a turn. For older children place 10-12 items on the tray. Give each a pen and paper. Give them 30 seconds to study the items. Then take the items away and the child that can list the most items wins.
Also known as " Simon Says". If it was a great game for you--it still is a great game for your child. We have found that children still love this simple game. Most important thing---be sure to try and give everyone a turn.
Make sure there is an adult standing next to the Lead Princess or Prince. All the other children stand facing her.
"princess says stand on one foot" "princess says twirl around" "touch your toes" Simple---anyone who touched their toes is out. Now depending on the ages of the children, you might not want to make any children out. You might just want to laugh and say "Princess did not say"! Then choose someone else to lead.
Also known as " Princess Freeze Dance". You can play this game without Tutus, but it really looks cute when the girls' tutus are all twirling around. All you need is a boom box and a little dancing room. Tell the girls when the music starts to dance around and when it stops everybody must freeze. When the music starts everybody must dance around again. You can add some silly moves like: "When the music stops--everybody must freeze with their hands on their head" or everybody must freeze on one foot....Lots of giggles for sure.
You will need a red carpet. Divide the girls into 2 teams. Place a collection of princess shoes and high heel shoes in a big pile at one end. All the girls start at that end also. One girl from each team must dig through the shoe pile to find 2 matching shoes. she must then put them on and walk like a model down the red carpet to the other side. Once she reaches the other side the next girl from her team does the same. The first team to get all girls down the red carpet wins!
Everybody Wins! This activity can be as simple or very thought out with lots of clues. If the children are young you can confine the hunt to one room with some silly music. Pick a small item that goes with your theme--butterflies with a fairy princess party. Hide 1 small butterfly before the party starts for each guest. When you are ready to play tell the children to look for a butterfly when the mustic starts--be sure to tell them to find just one. ( make sure you have extras--just in case) For older children --you can put them in groups with clues and have them solve. each clue takes them to the next clue and so on. Be sure to have a prize at the end. First group to find the prize wins. We always said that--but gave the same prizes to all!
Walk the Plank #1 Princess Party Game for Pirates.
This game is a super favorite must have for any Pirate Party. 2 Milk Crates and a wooden plank that you can tie in place through the openings in the milk crate work out well. These items are pretty easy to find. Children take turns walking across the plank---we usually get a big bag of feathers and let all the other children try to tickle the legs of the pirate trying to get across. This is a fun way to keep everyone involved

Princess --Duck Duck Goose
This game is so simple yet so fun. All the children sit in a circle. They all take turns going around taping each one softly on the head. They say: princess, princess, princess, princess, QUEEN. The girl who was tapped on the head when she said queen must jump up and chase the other girl around the circle. She must try to catch her before she gets back to her spot and sits down. Now it is the queen's turn. Repeat until every girl gets a chance.
Wish Circle Game
Have all the girls stand in a circle. Each girl crosses her right arm over her left and holds hands with the girls next to her on either side. The birthday girl whispers a special wish to the girl to her right and it goes all around the circle until the wish reaches the last girl. The last girl then says the wish out loud. The birthday girl tells them if the wish is correct. You can do this for all girls in the circle.
Its cute to hear their special wishes. You might have to help them out by giving some examples.
ie: I hope my friend gets well soon, I hope we visit Grandma soon, I wish my family would win the powerball jackpot.
Find the Fairy
Everybody Wins! If the children are young you can confine the hunt to one room with some silly music. Pick a small item that goes with your theme--small fairies with a fairy princess party. Stepping Stones Game
This game will work with any theme party. Stepping stones can be made out of card stock and laminated or you can buy actual stones in craft or home improvement stores. Cover each stone with a graphic from your party theme. Arrange them in a circle. Play music and children walk around the outside. When music stops they must stand on a stone. Take one away each time. Child who is out gets to pick a prize. We also let them stop the music, so they are not sad. We found this on the lelloandmonkey.co.uk.
